Frontlines: Fuel of War Demo Impression
Why would a developer put out a demo of a game they know is horrible? That is what I keep trying to tell myself after playing Frontlines: Fuel of War. It’s hard to believe that any company could seriously think that this game is good. I liked some of what they are trying to do with this game, but in the end they are failing miserably on almost all counts.
The worst thing about this demo is how the game controls. I constantly tried adjusting it to the right sensitivity setting before realizing that there is no good setting. Your reticule acts like a hyper-active 8 year old high on speed. Add on the fact that you move like molasses unless pressing the sprint button which doesn’t really feel like a sprint, more like a nice hop. Don’t expect to be blown away by the visuals either. Character models are good, but beyond that this game looks as boring as it is to play. Bland textures, uninteresting environments, and stale looking atmospherics make the game look like 3 year old mediocre PC title. Add on a bunch of physics issues (I shot a guy who then proceeded to spiral inward upon himself, as if by shooting him I opened up a black hole at the center of his body) and you have a game that needs a lot of work. I know it’s a demo, but that usually means the developers are pretty happy with what they have, and no one should be happy about making this piece of crap! Maybe the multiplayer can save it from the bargain bin?
