Fall 360 Update Corrupting Xbox Saves?

Some folks over at EvilAvatar have had the unfortunate discovery that some of their game saves for backwards-compatible Xbox games have become corrupted after the new dashboard update was applied. This is on the heels of a bug that was known at release which reset a GamerTag’s official forum history by naming all posts as anonymous when you change your tag. Also part of this update, the blades may be slower for you, or not. Sounds like a fun time to call Microsoft support, doesn’t it?
So far the save game corruption is only anecdotal, but boy are the folks affected upset. I especially feel for GunnyMo whose son lost all of his unlocked Burnout 3 cars and will have to start over. Nobody likes having to do that, and how do you easily explain mistakes from a software company with more power and resources than any other to a young person?
One minor irritation has to do with the speed of the user interface blades, but mileage on that count appears to be varying. This week’s CAGCast 99 had Wombat grumbling that it was like an old man was turning the crank behind the scenes to change the blades on his Xbox 360 while CheapyD seemed to think they were running faster.
