I figured you meant Ridley. And I’m confident he is the leader, at least until the phazon suit is dominated by Metroid Prime and becomes Dark Samus. So Venom, that. I think Ridley’s indicated as their leader in the original Metroid manual, and also is the one who killed Samus’ parents, which would go on to be a very bad decision. Of course, that doesn’t mean that was Gunpei Yokoi’s intent, only that whoever wrote the English version of the manual felt it was a good idea.

hm, it probably isn’t obvious from my comment… I meant ridley (who as far as I know isn’t actually the leader of the space pirates), not the parasite queen.

I had this evil grin on my face during the entire battle with said boss in MP3 – his theme music has been right up there on my all-time favourite game music list ever since I heard the first Metroid Prime rendition.

I’d say, in my not-too-knowledgable Nintendo opinion, that this game has probably the best hype build-up of anything Nintendo has ever done. They’ve got everyone eating out of their hand for this game.

And that’s a good thing, because it’s a 2d brawler. They can’t really screw it up, especially given how last year’s hands-on time from the press was so good already.
