XFire Adds 1000th Supported Game

Submitted by on November 19, 2007 – 7:48 pmNo Comment

XFireTonight I launched XFire and noticed a new upgrade adding a few nice things some bleeding-edge and not-so-bleeding edge PC gamers might enjoy. I wasn’t aware that XFire now has a clan and guild system built in, and they’ve just added some in-game support for the small number of Direct3D 10 games, including big recent releases like Hellgate: London, Fury, and Crysis. What else is in there?

- Added the ability to create custom, public or private forums associated with your clan or guild
- Added server info in the infoview for Call of Duty 4, including colorized names.
- Added the ability to create chat rooms and invite people to chat rooms from Xfire In-Game 2.0.
- Added Xfire In-Game support for Direct3D 10 games (Hellgate: London, Fury, and Crysis).

And there’s also something called XFire 2.0 support or (XFire In Game) XIG 2.0 which is now available in a boatload of new games. The difference between XIG 2.0 and regular XIG is the ability to get the XFire GUI to show up and be manipulated using the mouse while in the game. This new support also brings them to their 1000th game supported.

It’s too bad the PS3 never got connected up with XFire as its cross-game messaging system. The feature set on this entirely free service is pretty amazing.
