Uncharted Delivers
It’s difficult to explain why I wasn’t expecting much from Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Even with reviewers drooling all over it, I still found myself suspect of how much fun I could have with it. Right now, I’m 5 hours into the game and I’m absolutely hooked.
My wife was watching my gameplay intently as I toss Nate helplessly from one cliff to another, sometimes harrowingly missing a jump and plummeting to my death over a waterfall. As you play, you can tell there are sections that Naughty Dog expected players to die a few times (only to reload instantly nearby, thankfully) and planned accordingly. Leaping from rock to rock to avoid rapids? Fine and dandy until you miss a rock and watch Nate scream down a 500 foot drop to his doom. Excellent.
Uncharted plays like a high-budget action flick and as my compadres over at Veterangamers.com keep preaching, it delivers. It’s absolutely beautiful, sounds absolutely fantastic with excellent use of DTS Surround (buying the soundtrack) and keeps the excitement rolling at all times. It’s one of those games that gives you a guilt free smile through and through. Expect a full review soon.
