Stor3d: Uncharted Demo; Guitar Hero III, MotorStorm Add-Ons; Themes
This week’s 2.00 firmware update for the PS3 has moved things around a bit, sticking the PlayStation Store icon under the new PlayStation Network icon on the XMB. Hitting the Store today we have a demo for what may be the next big thing on the PS3, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, along with a College Hoops 2k8 demo. We have three new themes to go with 2.00′s new theming feature and — it has to be seen to be believed — the same song packs for Guitar Hero III that the Xbox Live Marketplace got today.
It’s a first for game Add-Ons on the PS3: parity with the Xbox Live Marketplace. I’m still reeling from at least four cross-platform titles appearing at the same time and at the same high level of quality on the 360 and PS3 (The Simpsons, Call of Duty 4, Guitar Hero III, Lego Star Wars) and now this? What will we do when Rock Band shows up?! Anyway the two song packs out for Guitar Hero III are for Foo Fighters and Velvet Revolver and they cost USD$6.25 each instead of five hundred… nostrils.
A new Add-On bundle for Motorstorm called Devil’s Weekend that gives you a new track called Devil’s Weekend, a nine race “ticket” for that track, and hey five new vehicles with three styles per vehicle immediately available. That’s not bad for just USD$5.99. There’s a corresponding Video download that explains this content if you want to see and hear more about it. Hey look, marketing!
The three themes now available in a new Themes section are Classy Pink, Nature, and Pixels.
Other video trailers include a Ratchet and Clank Future: ToD launch trailer, Devil May Cry 4 TGS Trailer 2, WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2008, Burnout Paradise “Carson GT”, Burnout Paradise “Manhattan”. After that we have a few Blu-ray trailers and five wallpapers for Call of Duty 4. As always, all of the videos and wallpapers are free.
