Stor3d: Operation Creature Feature; Aquatopia; Rock Band Songs; New PSP Store!
The PlayStation Store gets a special Tuesday update this week with the first PlayStation Eye games, a very nice sale on some existing PSN titles, a generous helping of Rock Band Add-Ons, and an MX vs ATV Untamed demo.
Sony has also launched a web-based Windows-only store for the PSP that finally unchains the PSP from the PS3 Store and has all-new and exclusive content sure to please owners of the little black handheld. We’ll cover that one in another post coming up. Right now let’s dive into the PS3 Store’s offerings this week.
On a side note, the icons in the store have gotten something of a face lift, with the color-coded bars in the icons now only showing as gray and a bit more text crammed in. For example, videos are tagged as “game video” or “blu-ray”. It also looks like the games have been broken out into more categories with new icons for them as well.
PSN Games
The PlayStation Eye gets its first two games today. Operation: Creature Feature is a USD$4.99 game where you guide a monster to an exit in a set amount of time using your hand movements in front of the camera and Aquatopia is a USD$1.99 aquarium that lets you safely mix fresh water and salt water fish in a beautiful HD aquarium. Motion detected by the PSEye will affect the fish and you can apparently “dab” your hands in the water to feed them. My kids really like the PlayStation Eye and its
There’s a nice sale going on for Flow, Calling All Cars, PixelJunk Racers, and Everyday Shooter. Each of them is USD$4.99 until November 29th. I’d recommend all but PixelJunk Racers, but PJR has something of a puzzler element to that might float your boat. The demo you can also find in the Store didn’t do anything for me.
Add-Ons
The USD$2.99 Flow expansion pack has launched, adding a new level group and creature type along with the ability to have each player in a two-player game choose a different creature to play as. I’ll be picking this one up since my daughter enjoys playing this game with me.
A pile of Rock Band Add-Ons are now online in their own folder. There’s a lot to check out:
$5.49 three-song packs (with each song sold for $1.99 as well)
Metallica Pack 1 $5.49
Queens of the Stone Age Pack 1 $5.49
The Police Pack 1 $5.49
$1.99 individual songs.
Bang a Gong cover from T.Rex
Cherry Bomb cover from The Runaways
Fortunate Son cover from Credence Clearwater Revival.
Joker & The Thief by Wolfmother
Juke Box Hero cover from Foreigner
My Sharona cover from The Knack.
A Need For Speed Pro Street Collector’s Upgrade is available for USD$9.99 giving five more cars and four additional race days. My question is: is this an oh-so-scummy patch to unlock that stuff on the original disc?
Demos, Videos, and Wallpapers
A new MX vs. ATV Untamed demo is available giving you a try at ATV, MX Bike or an Offroad buggy. The final game is coming on December 17th. Hm I can get all those vehicles now in MotorStorm.
Under videos we have a Snakeball trailer, Ratchet & Clank Future Behind The Scenes videos covering Story and Design, Battlefield: Bad Company Trailer 2, and a Blu-ray trailer for Superbad.
A new slate of wallpapers is now available for Devil May Cry 4, bringing in the 8th through 11th images for the game headed to the PS3 in February 2008.
PSEye games seen on The PlayStation Blog.
