Retail Roundup: Super Mario Galaxy for Half Price.

Submitted by on November 11, 2007 – 9:42 am3 Comments

Super Mario Galaxy Gift CardToys R Us is turning up the heat on other retailers this week when Super Mario Galaxy shows up on Tuesday in-store for the regular price of $49.99 before they throw in a whopping $25 gift card. I’ve never seen a gift card cut a brand new game’s price in half like that, especially one that critics are hailing as the second coming of, well, Mario. Seriously, have you seen the review scores for this game yet? It’s so close to perfect that perfection is blushing and at a loss for words when asked what it’s like to work with Super Mario Galaxy.

So good luck grabbing it this week, thanks to CAG for the link, and happy hunting!

In a previous sales folder, TRU also promised a free controller glove with a Galaxy preorder (and also with Smash Bros or Mario/Sonic/Olympics preorder). Not to mention the preorder Galaxy coin bonus. Of course, the glove is one of those ugly $10 rubber things, and your free one depends on the store’s current selection… and you can bet that all they will have is Ugly Pink or Ugly Blue-Green.

Not to mention the Galaxy coin, which TRU is also offering. Even though the game ships today, it’s likely not too late to run down and grab a preorder slip, since it won’t be stocked until Tuesday. Hell, my TRU keeps preorder slips around even after the game ships.

The $25 gift card promotion only runs until 11/17. I intend to call my local TRU each morning until they have it on the shelves, then march in with my preorder and demand my coin, my glove and my gift card. Oh yeah, the game too.
