PS3 Firmware 2.01 To Increase Stability

    By Paul Munn | November 17, 2007

    PS3

The PlayStation Blog notes firmware 2.01 is coming soon and rather delicately doesn’t admit to problems in 2.00. It will increase the stability of the PlayStation 3, they say. Hm. What could have decreased the stability in the first place?

I’ve witnessed two crashes of my console since firmware 2.00 was installed and was unable to reproduce them again. The first was during one moment when playing Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, and the second was when pushing X to play one of the videos released on the store last week. I don’t recall my own PS3 ever seizing up before, and repeated attempts to reproduce the crash failed miserably. My living room isn’t particularly toasty either and my PS3 isn’t in an enclosure so I can’t chalk it up to dust or heat. Let’s hope 2.01 fixes any chance of those happening again.

Oh and if it fixes the random-remote-play-restarts too that would be nice.
