Jeff Minter, We Hardly Knew Thee

In the last few days, one of the more recent game developer whine-fests comes from Jeff Minter, developer of Space Giraffe and numerous other Tempest clones. Gamasutra had reported the following:

    Thing is that I love Space Giraffe. It was a buy the day it came out. The only issue is that the game is very hard at times.

    I tried playing it for hours… I told myself I should like it. I wanted to like it. Maybe my expectations were too high, I don’t know, but I found the graphical style annoying and the gameplay repetitive.

    Instead of the graphics being useful or enjoyable, they were an obstacle to be avoided at all costs. The graphics became my worst enemy. Then I went and played a few games of Dig Dug and Galaga. :D
