Guitar Hero III Comes Out Swinging, New DLC Already Up.

Guitar Hero III may have made $115 million in its first week for Activision but they’re not resting on their laurels, what with Rock Band ready to storm the barricades in a couple of weeks. Already two song packs are available for purchase on the Xbox Live Marketplace and will hit the PlayStation Network later today. Um, about that Wii version. All kidding aside, will the Wii get any add-ons or is it going to be strumming alone with the DLC-free PS2 version?
For 500 points ($6.25) you can get either a Foo Fighters pack that includes “The Pretender” from the new album “Echoes Silence Patience & Grace”, “All My Life” and “This Is A Call” or the Velvet Revolver pack, with “She Builds Quick Machines”,”Slither” and “Messages”. Each of the packs are by the original artists.
As what must be a special thank you to fans, Activision has also announced that the boss fight songs and “The Devil Went Down To Georgia” will be downloadable later this month for free for play outside of the Career mode.
I watched someone play the Scorpions song Rock You Like A Hurricane in a Best Buy last night on an Xbox 360 showing the game in a tiny display area on a tiny screen and even that looked cool. The graphics were very nice, and the similarly small Rock Band display right beside it was empty, marked “Coming Soon”.
