Gameover: Running Through The Motions

My tilt towards the Simpsons license and its good-enough core platforming gameplay has me hooked on the The Simpsons Game. It’s also relatively short compared to other GTA-style overworld games I’ve played, which makes me feel good after my relatively short play sessions because I can see actual progress being made. Don’t get me wrong, I am enjoying Burnout Legends on my PSP but when I look at my driver information and see I’ve only completed 3% of the game it makes me feel I can come back to the game whenever and chip away at it at my leisure.
I will complain that picking up the collectibles out and about in Springfield between missions can be annoying. They are optional, and they are fun to pick up, but getting to them can be irritating. This is primarily due to load times when switching characters at the bus stop. The bus stops are definitely welcome, letting you warp to any one of them at any time, but the longer load times when switching characters are not welcome. This is the PS3. Why do you have to switch characters so much? Some things are unreachable unless you have Marge on hand to command passers-by via megaphone to build something up and allow a character to reach the collectible.
