Did Somebody Say PlayStation Network Portal?

PSN Portal LogoNo, not Valve’s Source-engine Portal game that Gabe Newell probably still isn’t done badmouthing their own PS3 developers over, a news and information web portal. IGN has just such a portal placeholder page up and running at psn.ign.com. Didn’t someone gripe that machines like the PS3 and PSP with web browsers could be a great place to put console-friendly content instead of using a paper magazine and demo discs?

With toolbar buttons Online Gaming, Store, and Community and the name PlayStation Network Portal, it looks suspiciously official to me. Could it be tied to the official PlayStation Store in some way? Could it be browsable on the PS3 and jump into Store content the way you can in Resistance and will be able to in the 1.2 patch for Warhawk next month? Could a new browser version be coming to enable more portal content in 2.00? So many questions.

Hm, I think I’ll be hitting the Update button a little more frequently before I fire up Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction for the first time tonight.

Seen on PS3Fanboy.
