Did Anyone Doubt The Terminator Would Be Back
Ever since “I’ll Be Back” became common lexicon, there have been Terminator games. Some good, like Terminator 2029 or Terminator: Rampage and some abysmally bad like the Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines debacle a few years ago. Now comes word, via the Hollywood Reporter, that another Terminator game is on its way for a release in early 2009.
Halcyon owns the publishing rights for the game and the movie, and it looks like the game will be tied into the movie release, currently called “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins”. The game will be available on all current game platforms, including PC and mobile. No word on whether Govenator Arnold will be involved, but it would be difficult to watch or play a Terminator game that did not have the Austrian Oak in it at some point.
Until today, I had never heard of Halcyon, and I had no clue that they owned the rights to the Terminator franchise. It also does not bode well that the game is planned to be a movie tie-in, which normally, for lack of a better term, suck big time. I would not hold my breath over this being a good movie, but maybe we will be surprised for a change. We only have 18 months to wait.
