Crisis Core is Square Enix’s Best Selling Game This Year

The Nintendo DS may have more than double the installed base of the PSP but Square Enix has gone on record by saying that the PSP exclusive Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core is Square’s best selling game this year. The press release quoted by PSPFanboy notes that Crisis Core has sold 730,000 units compared to 530,000 for the DS exclusive Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings.
VGChartz seems to agree with those numbers with 540k for Revenant Wings and 750k for Crisis Core. Both of those games are unqualified succeses for Square Enix in terms of numbers, and the sales stats cover only until the end of September, but it was still a pretty big surprise to me. The buffed-up remake Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War hasn’t been napping at retail, either, with 460k units of that title sold to date.
