Review: Dragon Ball Z – Ultimate Tenkaichi (PS3)

I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.
This year, we …

Call Of Duty 4 Review (XBOX 360)

COD4-Review.gifIt takes a mighty fine game to draw me away from getting my daily Halo 3 fix, but few games play and look like those in the Call of Duty franchise. The new Call of Duty may be the shortest of all the games so far, but in terms of gameplay and variety it exceeds them by leaps and bounds. Call of Duty 4 is an amazing experience that no self respecting FPS lover should go without playing

I’ve read and heard loads of great things about COD4 on the PS3 as well as the 360. The arcade mode and perk slots are the most interesting parts of this.

Other than that, I already have a classic shooter that I almost never play online, Resistance, because I’m too busy with other games. Until I give that one a full trip through the ringer online I can’t justify playing anything else.

  • It’s certainly hard to keep up with all the war-themed FPS’s. How do you compare Resistance to others?

  • Richard Windsor says:

Uhh I haved played both and I have to say that Resistance pails in comparison to COD in every single way. Resistance is a great game but will never really go down as a classic game. COD4 on the other hand will.

  • I’m getting that impression now, too, after almost finishing CoD4 + seeing only gameplay trailers for Resistance. Actually, come to think of it, CoD4 seems to borrow from a few games that I’ve played including Resistance and Gears of War.

While “classic” in terms of gameplay — e.g. no cover system at all — Resistance differentiates itself with its interesting set of weapons. I’m definitely not a fan of its sepiatone color theme just as others aren’t a big fan of the gray-and-gritty worlds of a lot of shooters.

As an Insomniac and sci-fi fan so while the alien invasion theme is good, the 1950s setting overwhelms it.

Something like Blacksite might have been something to compare Resistance to, but without voice chat it’s probably never even going to be rented by me.
