“Baby Grace” Parents Met Through World of Warcraft

In the lastest news coming out of the Baby Grace case was the fact that the mother of the child met her soon to be husband through World of Warcraft. While I am fairly positive that this event did not cause the killing in any way, shape or form. However, knowing how these things work out, it is inevitable that Jack Thompson, the media and every other person that blames video games for everything that is wrong in the world will no doubt jump on this factoid and make it the top focus.

This story will go from two unfit parents that treated their child without any sense of dignity or remorse, and turn World of Warcraft is possessing parents and telling them to do horrible things to those around them. Some will say that I am jumping to conclusions, but watching other stories where this has started as a small footnote in a story, it just seems like this will also end up taking that route.

    Actually, the interesting thing that should pop out of this is how certain players of MMORPGs shirk their normal daily routine/activities to obsess over these games. It’s happened in more than this country and ever since EverCrack… er EverQuest showed up to the scene.

    I never played one and probably never will, but I know plenty who do and how they have come to encompass their lives to the point that they’d rather “raid for phat loots” then hang out with their friends, in REAL LIFE.

    I’m in complete agreement with you. What they did is disgusting.

    I was actually surprised when I read an article about this in todays newspaper, no mention was made of video games whatsoever.
