Sony Twists Knife In Hotspot Ad, Portable Ops Plus Renamed? [Updated]

TMobile Hotspot Oops

I got a new Sony email today promoting the 6-month T-Mobile hotspot free trial that got bundled into the PSP’s firmware a while back. Four games are prominently displayed as being T-Mobile hotspot compatible. We have Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters, yes that has online multiplayer; Killzone: Liberation, yes that definitely has online multiplayer; Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow, definitely an online multiplayer title; and lastly we have Monster Hunter Freedom 2? Oops!

Excuse me Sony, MHF2 does not have online play. It’s ad-hoc only. Please stop reminding me of how stupid it was for Capcom to make it ad-hoc only.

On the upside, it looks like Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops Plus might be called Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops: Infinite War, unless that’s another mistake in their email listing upcoming online playable/T-mobile hotspot compatible games. Infinite War sounds nicer, but as far as acronyms go I like MGSPOP more than MGSPOIW.

Update: PSPFanboy reports that the name is a mistake. That was apparently the code name given to the project by Konami early on.

.::: MHF2 is infrastructure-compatible for downloadable content. So basically the advert is correct. To what extent, well that’s up to the beholder, right?
