PSP 3.72 Reveals PS3 2.0 Feature

Submitted by Paul Munn on October 30, 2007 – 2:16 pmComments

Network updateA new 3.72 firmware is out for the PSP and someone noticed over on the EU PlayStation site that in addition to the usual improved support for PlayStation Store games it adds the ability to remotely turn on a PS3 for Remote Play use if it is running the 2.0 firmware. There was a rumor last week that this feature was coming to the 2.0 firmware before the end of October, and it must be coming very soon if we’re seeing this PSP Firmware today.

Is Remote Start a big deal? New bells and whistles for remote play are appreciated by PSP owners like me who use it at least weekly to view and download Store materials while the TV is otherwise occupied, and if it comes with an option to turn off the system again it could be even more useful. However, I’m not the only person hoping the 2.0 firmware ships with more than just this ability.

Seen on PSPFanboy, and on EU.PlayStation.com.
