Lunar Pool, Ninja JaJaMaru-kun, and Golden Axe III on Wii Shop Channel.

Golden Axe will always make me think of hours and quarters spent in the pizza parlor near the house where I grew up. I remember once playing through the game start to finish with my sister. That’s right, a whole family of gamers. Playing through took a bit of money, but man was that fun.
Golden Axe III, for Sega Genesis, joins two other old games on the Wii Shop Channel today. My understanding is the franchise has gone down hill over time. I didn’t much like Golden Axe II, and I’m not sure I’ve ever played Golden Axe III. It would be interesting if Golden Axe was revived by Sega to make a modern 3D brawler, wouldn’t it? I know Secret Rings‘ director mentioned not too long ago that he’d love to work with that franchise next. I didn’t realize at the time that the game was already in the works. Scheduled for release this year, in fact. Somehow I’m thinking it’s not coming in 2007.
