Hudson tells all on TurboGrafx CD-ROM games on Virtual Console. Say “lossy.”

There are lots of concerns that spring to mind when one starts talking about bringing games to the Wii Shop Channel that have the potential of actually being larger than the Wii’s onboard storage space. Are they going to pull the Redbook audio and replace it with MP3? That would be fine. What if they pull it and replace it with MIDI? That might be a bit less fine. But it turns out, the result may be somewhere in between. If you take a game that has an album’s worth of music, and compress it all down so it’s nice and lossy, maybe you can fit it in the Wii’s storage space.

NintendoWorldReport penned an excellent interview with Hudson’s John Lee, in which the man talks at length about how Hudson will be jamming ten pounds of data into a 512 milligram bag.

It’s beens stated before and I’ll re-iterate but the Wii needs a large external mass storage device. If you pay all this money to buy all these games but don’t have enough room for all of them it’s a “future issue”. Let’s say sometime in the future Nintendo decides to close down the Wii support. Now you can’t re-download the games you already purchased and all that money was lost.

I agree. I still haven’t downloaded a VC game yet. Hudson not bringing SNES games to it is lame. I’d love to have SNES Super Bomberman 2,3, or 4.
