Until today, I was not exactly sure what a Mimobot was. I know that I was asked by John Kopp to come over and look at the new Halo Mimobots, which are USB thumbdrives, with different designs. The first set is listed shown above and come in three different models. They have a Master Chief model followed up by a red and blue Spartan model. Mimoco has the exclusive rights to using the Master Chief and Spartan designs and plan to have several other models in the Halo series.

The company makes an assortment of these drives using all sorts of different designs. The one that really caught my eye was the Star Wars series. They released the first series of designs in May of this year and they were a huge success, according to Nicole Rosano, Public Relations for Mimoco. She let me know that series two will be coming in November, but I was unable to get an idea what characters would be available in the next release, but the May release included a Stormtrooper and Darth Vader.

The other feature that sets these USB thumb drives apart from other storage devices is the fact that they normally ship with content related to the design. The Halo Mimobots come with some exclusive content that cannot be found anywhere else, including wallpapers, screensavesrs, unpublished pages from the Halo comic book and soundBytes. The last one basically means that it plays a sound from the character when the device is plugged into a USB port.

The drives range in price from $40 for a 1GB model up to $100 for a 4GB model. And of course, George Lucas makes sure that he gets a premium as the Star Wars models cost $10 extra for each size. You can check out the Mimobots at www.mimoco.com
