Gameover: Rainbow Six Gurumin Edition
It’s always a relief when I’m able to make progress in single player games that have been waiting patiently for my return. Unfinished games bother me and keep me from feeling good about buying new games, no matter how great they are. (The one guilt-suspending exception is if the new game is on sale.) Anyway, this weekend I forged ahead in Gurumin on the PSP and Rainbow Six Vegas on the PS3.
Gurumin’s charm hasn’t worn thin for me yet and I’ve started noticing the difficulty ramping up not just in terms of enemy durability but puzzle complexity as well. The Zelda games it borrows heavily from are all much more involved, but for me — someone who lost the patience to wade through Zelda games after Ocarina Of Time — this game is just simple and fun enough to remind me of that gameplay style without frustrating me.
I put some time into Rainbow Six Vegas in online co-op and offline single-player mode over the weekend as well. James and I played through some levels close to the end of the game and my online play didn’t just earn points towards unlocking new things for my character, it gave me a clear sneak preview of the areas and enemies I’d be up against in single-player mode.
You definitely don’t want to just play this game co-op, either. Co-op mode leaves out some mid-level in-engine cut scenes and story elements that make the overall game make a lot more sense.
What did you play this weekend?
