EA To Extend Simpsons, Has Sense Of Humor

EA has earned suspicious looks from gamers ever since the first batches of unwelcome downloadable content hit the Xbox Live Marketplace, but if The Simpsons Game demo released on the PlayStation Store tonight is any indication, EA will be offering add-ons via the PlayStation Store as well. That, and they have a bit of a sense of humor.
In true EA fashion, however, the first billboard you see — the one the robotic Krustys leap from to pester you as you try to take down the boss creature in the demo — has an EA logo on it. I immediately thought of Burnout 3, the first game I ever saw with EA billboards plastered all over it. Some things never change.
The picture you see here satirizing EA’s signature football franchise was on the side of a building off in one corner of the demo.
Overall I liked the demo and think it gives you a real taste of the platforming you can look forward to in the final game. The collectibles were there, the cliches were there and quite funny, the music sounded wonderful, and the sound effects and voice work were exactly what they should be. I can see it getting repetitive, however, but the number of family members and unusual environments (16 levels according to the demo’s closing credits) could keep it fresh enough to encourage you to go the extra mile to get every Duff bottle cap or Krusty coupon to unlock everything.
