Tiny Diggers – An iPad Construction Truck Game for Kids Age 2-5

While I was at E for All, I saw that THQ had de Blob available for play. I saw this game at the THQ E3 press event, and it looked intriguing, but without having a chance to play it, it was hard to gauge how it would play. So when I saw a game station open, I made sure to get in a couple of minutes on the game.

How good is the game? I probably would have still been playing if a THQ staff member had not asked me to move and let some other people play. de Blob could be one of the best games I have played in quite some time. The controls were instantly recognizable and intuitive. I never struggled to grasp how to play the game.

The game basically puts you in the shoes of de Blob, a little round sphere with a face that has decided to bring color back to the world. The world has lost all of its color and music, descending into a world of blandness. The world is patrolled by cops that are called Inkies, and their leader is called Inky, how original. You have to avoid or smash these Inkies, while mixing a wide spectrum of colors across the buildings of the city. You also spread music as you play, which helps liven up the world.

The game sounds simple and easy, but that does not matter, because the game is a blast to play. You will spend lots of time, trying to create new color palettes, or how to get to certain areas of the game. Put that together with the somewhat soothing background music from the game and you have a great combination. It reminds me of Lumines Live to some degree, because of how relaxing the game can be at times.
