Crystal Chronicles nation-building RPG coming to Wii Ware.

In The Wiire’s report from Nintendo Japanese press conference, Square-Enix is said to be providing an original Wii Ware title in the Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles franchise, called Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Young King and the Promised Land. Square-Enix is currently working on the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers action-RPG game for Wii that is expected to be delivered on a disc, perhaps sometime next year. Quoting from TheWiire, “Players will be able to build their own country in the game.”

I enjoyed Crystal Chronicles on Gamecube, despite never being able to complete the game in its boring single-player mode. I didn’t have anyone capable of committing the time to play the game with the required GBA controllers. Fortunately, they’ve abandoned this mechanic, at least for the DS Ring of Fates and Wii Crystal Bearers versions of the game.

And how are we supposed to have the space for this Gamecube-level game on our Wii?!
