Stor3d: Poker, PixelJunk Racers, and Demos.

Submitted by Paul Munn on September 13, 2007 – 9:02 pmComments

highstakes_poker_image.pngTwo new games debut on the PlayStation Network today, followed by five new demos, a free music track, instructional video, and the usual selection of trailers for upcoming games.

PixelJunk Racers for USD$6.99 is a single and multi-player (offline only) slot car racing game, with 32 modes, 10 tracks and online rankings. IGN has given it a 5.2 review, noting absolutely no load times and simple controls as highs, and generally simple controls and non-animated backgrounds as lows. A demo is also offered, so I look forward to giving this a try.

High Stakes on the Vegas Strip: Poker Edition comes in at USD$9.99 and offers limit or no-limit poker in five different game types including Texas Hold’em, Super Hold’em, and Billabong. You can play single-player or with up to five others online, and it offers online leaderboards, something called a live audio feed (voice chat anyone?) and HD graphics up to 1080p.

The four demos after PixelJunk racers are Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground, NHL 08, FIFA 08, and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

We get a couple of unusual, Lair-related items this week. First is a music track “Battle for Asylia”, with a note that more soundtrack tracks are coming soon. Next we get a video teaching you how to fly your dragon called the “Mastering The Beast” video. Interesting that they’d release something like this. It’s almost as if they knew people were going to have trouble with the controls, hmmm.

In the gaming videos department there’s a Warhawk Release Trailer, Soul Calibur IV Trailer, Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights Trailer, High Stakes: Poker Edition Trailer, and an Everyday Shooter Trailer. We get one movie trailer for Feel The Noise, along with two PixelJunk racers wallpapers, Folklore Wallpaper 2, and a High Stakes: Poker Edition Wallpaper.

Thanks EvilAvatar for the heads-up on the new content.
