Rock Band Dates, Prices, Features, and Orange Crush
The dust has settled around Rock Band’s pricing, versions, release dates, and feature set. The PS3, Xbox 360, and PS2 versions will all get a guitar, drum kit, and microphone. The current-generation 360 and PS3 versions will debut on November 23rd at $169.99 while the PS2 version will take a bow this year — quite a surprise — at $159.99 on December 10th. More details after the jump
As for the wired versus wireless situation, the PS3 guitar will be wireless while the 360 will get a wired controller and a USB hub to plug it into. I’m guessing this is to make up for the 360 having only two USB ports on it versus the PS3′s four. A wireless guitar for the 360 will be sold separately at some point in the future, but won’t be available at launch. Everything on the PS2 will be wired, and the PS2 version can use the PS3 version’s wired microphone and drum kit. (This tells me all of the wired instruments will be USB, so I’d wager some folks will be reverse engineering support for them onto the PC.)
Lastly, over at Shacknews a full description of the set list as trickled out thus far has been compiled with the new addition of REM’s Orange Crush.
I’m very impressed with the breadth of songs available for this game. While I’m one of the very few who didn’t really get into Guitar Hero, the online modes available for the game should be interesting to see.
