Review: Dragon Ball Z – Ultimate Tenkaichi (PS3)

October 28, 2011 – 12:44 pm |

I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.

chibiparkpatrol.jpgIt’s no surprise that October 1st is the release of The Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Everyone’s known that for weeks. But what else is coming out this month for the DS? Let’s take a look.

October 2nd hopefully brings us the very-long-awaited Chibi Robot: Park Patrol. Previews have called it an upbeat game; demos have shown Chibi Robo watering flowers to make them dance.

October 2nd also brings us the latest in the Spyro games – The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night. It’s the 2nd installment in the Legend of Spyro series. This one promises more puzzles and platforming to break up the monotony that was prevalent in the first game.

While not yet dated, sometime in October, Crash Bandicoot is supposed to return to the DS in Crash of the Titans. So little details are available that one wonders if it hasn’t been delayed.

Fans of Touch Detective will look forward to Touch Detective 2 1/2 on the 9th. This one boasts a wackier story, more locations, and familiar characters from the first game. The 9th also brings Duck Amuck, the new Daffy Duck minigamer where you try to make him angry.

Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground debuts on the 15th for more skating fun. A new action Napoleon Dynamite game appears the next day on the 16th. The 16th also sees the release of Thrillville: Off the Rails, the sequel to the original Thrillville title, with more theme-park building.

If you’re a Sims fan, another Sims 2 game, Castaway, appears on the 22nd.

On October 23rd, prepare for Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trials and Tribulations. This time, you’ll get to control Mia. Retro gamers will be able to get the originally-on-SNES Front Mission, and also operate on patients via Life Signs: Surgical Unit. Musicians can play Rhythm & Notes, which offers rhythm and tonal training on piano and drumming games. EA Playground will feature lots of Dodgeball fun. And who can forget Naruto: Path of the Ninja.

The highly anticipated Simpsons game will be on sale October 30th, and horror gamers will have some Halloween fun with Dementium: The Ward on Halloween day.

October’s going to be a very busy month for the DS!
