Never one to mince words, Ken Levine, of 2K Boston, was on the Gamers with Jobs podcast and rallied to the defense of Factor 5 and Lair. It was a surpringly candid discussion where Ken felt that the Factor 5 development team might of been approached by Sony with the idea of adding motion control duirng the development of the game.

“I think you’re seeing a lot of this lately. Aren’t there a lot of games where you’re just like, ‘Dude, can I just use the d-pad or the analog stick?’ Ever since the DS came out I feel that there have been a lot of games like that. They’ve been so impressed by their control mechanic that they just really, really want you to play with that.”, stated Ken Levine.

He also felt that Lair was used as a springboard for Sony’s motion control due to the lawsuit that involved Immersion Technologies.

That may be likly. But Motion controls weren’t the worst part of lair. the bad buttons placement and the bad targeting, the ugly graphics, massive framerate stutters and horrible glitches all killed the game FAR WORSE THAN SKETCHY CONTROLS EVER COULD.
