Gamestop seems to be one of those love-hate kind of places. On one hand, it is a gaming mecca, with wall to wall games. But at the same time, it seems to find new and improved ways to piss off its clientele. Today we received a tip from one of our readers. He pointed us to a blogger that got a unsolicited phone call, asking him if he had any trades to put towards the upcoming Halo 3 release. Now I have not received a phone call like this from my GameStop, but it appears that this is not the first time he has gotten this phone call. He also has a recording from an earlier call that was unsolicited.

Is this some new marketing campaign by GameStop to drive more of their customers away or just one retail store manager gone crazy trying to reach sales goals for the month. If I get one of these calls I plan to record it and make it memorable.

I love when I buy a full priced NEW game and they try to pawn off one of there USED games-that’s all scratched to hell-for a cheap $4 off.

I got the call, too. The message identified me as being a “Halo 3 pre-order customer”. The thing is, I’m not. I cashed out my Halo 3 pre-order months ago, as I’m buying it somewhere else. This call would’ve been irritating enough, were I an actual customer, but considering that I’m not…

if you ever reserved halo 3., it was a automated call just like when they tell you that your game is in, but it said that from now til the 23rd all trade ins for halo 3 are 30% extra credit. so if a trade in is $10 then it will be $13 towards halo 3.

I got one of those calls yesterday too. It showed up as a 888-411-2830 number on my cell so i didnt bother picking it up. But they did leave a voice mail.

Maybe I’m the only one thats kinda glad they called since I was going to trade back some games anyways, n now i get an addition 30% added on there.
