In the category of “Things I Hope EA Isn’t Involved With” comes news that SCi, the parent company of Eidos, is in “extremely preliminary discussions” for a possible buyout by an unnamed party. According to FiringSquad’s source, possible buyers could be Electronic Arts and Warner Brothers Interactive.

If it is EA, you can expect Kane & Lynch 2 to be slightly worse than Kane & Lynch, and Kane & Lynch 3 will totally blow chunks. Much in the same way that Burnout, Battlefield, SimCity, Command & Conquer, and various and sundry titles were all run straight into the ground by EA buyouts.

I really hope EA doesn’t buy them… It will mean that many fewer potentially good games.

Being bought by EA would be a bad thing, because I think the two company philosophies are totally different. Now a buyer like Ubisoft, that looks like a better corporate vibe for the both of them. Just throwing that out there.
