One face has been a constant when it comes to publicizing the Playstation 3. Beyond Kaz and Phil, you have always had Dave Karraker, the senior director of corporate communications at Sony talking up the machine. He has been a steadfast supporter of the machine and has gone to numerous websites, TV shows and print media outlets to explain the price of the PS3, the slow sales, and the lack of exclusives. The man was dedicated to pumping up the PS3.

Today, comes word that Dave is leaving Sony. He did not give any reasons with the exception that he was “well positioned to have an exceptional holiday,” and that he will continue, “to follow this industry as a gamer, rather than a spokesperson.” He did mention that his new employer will be Skyy Spirits, where he will be the head of PR for events.

He is going from Sony to an alcohol manufacturer, I wonder if dealing with all the Sony problems led him to drink?

Sorry the joke was just too easy!

He joined Sony two months before the launch of the PS3, so he’s not exactly a Sony veteran.

I think you are a veteran if you have to try to hype and sell the PS3 at this point, becaue the toll on the mind will age you beyond your years.

I’m pretty convinced that more game bloggers read game blogs than anyone else.
