Crisis Core Loads Fast On New PSP, PocketGamer Likes It

PSPFanboy has linked to this video demonstrating that Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core for the PSP loads quite a bit faster on the PSP-2000 than it does on the PSP-1000. This ties into the belief that newer titles might fare better with the new memory cache while others have found minimal advantages to existing titles on the system when using the cache.

PocketGamer has reviewed the new PSP-2000 and approached the review by focusing only on the differences between the old system and the new one. The PSP-2000, in case you haven’t been following along, is the slimmer and lighter model of the handheld. After carefully describing the differences and not calling any of them indivudally earth-shaking — heck they don’t even mention the video out capabilities of the system — these two quotes stand out:

But if your head is having trouble justifying the purchase, and if it helps, we can at least say this: Don’t try the PSP Slim & Lite. Because the moment you do, you won’t want to go back to the old model.

I’m looking forward to someone other than me who lives near me getting one so I can try it out in my Logitech Playgear Street case. If it fit well, I’d be much more likely to get one.
