Chinese Man Dies After Three Day Gaming Binge

Late Saturday evening, a young Chinese man in the Guangzhou province, collapsed and later died after a three day gaming binge at an Internet Gaming cafe. Paramedics arrived at the scene in an attempt to revive the 30 year old man, but their attempts failed. There were no announcements of what game he was playing at the time of his passing.

Strange thing in all of this is that the Chinese government has spent a ton of money promoting healthy gaming. They have put advertisements on TV, opened gaming addiction clinics and worked with gaming companies to put notices in their games. The Chinese government has also passed several laws that limit gaming to certain periods of times, along with the closure of many Internet establishments. Why these laws did not stop this man from gaming has not been mentioned, but it deserves to be looked at.

That’s like asking why all those laws about no-murder haven’t actually stopped murder. Human beings will still make crazy / bad / silly / wrong decisions.

Joe – The difference is that in China, the owner of the cafe could do years in a Chinese jail, if they do not put him to death first for not follwing the rules.
