Camelot resurfaces, building We Love Golf for Capcom.

You may or may not have heard of development studio Camelot, but you’ve heard of their games. Perhaps best known for a string of well-received golf games they built with the Mario license for Nintendo, and Hot Shots Golf on PS1, Camelot to me is most important for their work in the role playing genre, at first with a string of games starting with the word “Shining,” usually continuing with the word “Force,” and eventually, in some cases, even ending with a roman numeral, and then later on with a pair of games for the GBA called Golden Sun.
Mention of a Golden Sun sequel gets a lot of attention, but that’s not what’s happening here unfortunately. Or, perhaps fortunately. Camelot Software Planning is known for good golf games, as I said, so the announcement that they’re bringing We Love Golf to Nintendo Wii with Capcom doing publishing duty is good news.
On the Wii, there’s some good golf to be had (Super Swing from Tecmo) and some bad golf (Wii Sports Golf from Nintendo) and some mediocre stuff too (Tiger Woods from EA) but there’s nothing really excellent there. Maybe Camelot can fill that narrow void with their brand of light sporty fun. It’s also worth noting that this may or may not be the same golf game Camelot was planning to bring to the PC (which was to be called I Love Golf, and is pictured above), which never actually came to be.
Read on for the press release from Capcom. Image is, obviously, from IGN.
