Alone in the Dark for PS3 Will be Even Aloner And Darker

Alone in the Dark

Remember Alone in the Dark? Its most recent chapter was delayed into 2008 not long ago, and it’s apparently going to be delayed even further for folks hoping to get the PS3 version of the game. That version will be even more alone in an even darker place without its PC and 360 version pals to hand it an old brass lantern to look around as they’ll launch first.

That assumes, of course, that the game actually gets finished and published. I’ve come to expect that remakes of very old games almost never come out that great, if at all. This game sounds like someone’s generic idea of a game that the public must be clamoring for. Even if it’s not a remake, hasn’t the point-and-click mystery really run its course on the PC by now?

If there’s something interesting or cool about this still-in-the-oven game we should know about, let me know. Otherwise I won’t be paying too much attention to it when it launches early or launches late.

    Or not.

The trailer was pretty but not especially exciting. Fiery explosions, daring leaps and swinging over the side of a building somehow seemed really mundane.

Point and click mystery? Wow, that was like 20 years ago my friend.

The game that game out for computers, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, was freaking awesome. It was in a similar vein as Resident Evil with locked camera perspectives as you searched a house. You played thru as either Edward Carnby or some chick and you started out in completely different places and had a completely different adventure each time. The game was scary as hell, had a great story and just all around good fun. I played thru each character’s game at least twice.

If they can deliver a good gaming experience with even half the story of The New Nightmare, I can’t wait to play it.

Seriously, go check out that computer game…..I have the walk thru guide if you get stuck just post something here and I can get you thru it.

The preview article from the Eurogamer (the german version) webpage: Fresh from teh GC2007 presentation…

“I did not expect too much, when I could convince myself of the potential of Edward Carnbys second Renaissance at the Games Convention (after the mediocre Dreamcast game). To say, the presentation of the Eden Games (test drive Unlimited) responsible Herv?

Pardon my ignorance on the new version, since I can’t access any websites while at work that relate to gaming (besides here (yeah!!)), but the originals were not Point and Click. There were in fact a simple platformer. I’ve played the first 3 and even the extra game: Jack in the Dark, and I loved all of them. I sure hope this one doesn’t suck since it will help revive my love for the series.
