Activision Buys Bizarre; PGR4 “Last Game for Microsoft”

Submitted by on September 26, 2007 – 8:56 pm2 Comments

bizarre.jpgJust before the release of their AAA title PGR4, Bizarre Creations has been purchased by Activision for an undisclosed amount. Their first title under Activision is expected to arrive in 2009 and according to that ever-growing beast of a developer,

“Project Gotham Racing 4 would be [Bizarre Creations] last game for Microsoft.”

I’m a big fan of Bizarre Creations, not just the products they display on my consoles but how they handle their community as well. Their Community and Web Lead Director, Ben Ward (who was recently promoted, I believe) was been kind enough in the past to give me a fun official comment on a Sony gaffe. It’s things like that which put the company in permanent good graces with me.

The good news is that according to Activision, Bizarre Creations’ studio will remain in Liverpool. The final Microsoft game by Bizarre is scheduled to rip up Xbox 360′s everywhere on October 2nd.

I must admit I’m not a big fan of PGR…I feel it’s a bit contrived. There are better racers out there!

Misleading title much? Sounds like Activision isn’t making any more games for Microsoft after PGR4. If I was sony Defense Force, i’d totally be linking your blog right now for “True Journalism”
