Stranglehold Minimum PC Specs Are Rather Eye-Popping

Submitted by on August 9, 2007 – 12:18 pm3 Comments

667228m.jpgI had a friend point me in the direction of a thread that was on Midway’s PC Stranglehold section. In that thread, a moderator got into the specification debate by posting the minimum specs for Stranglehold. If you are a PC diehard like I am, here is what you will need at a minimum to play the game. Not play it smoothly, just to be able to run it.

Dual Core Processor
2GB of RAM
Nvidia Geforce 7800 or ATI Radeon x1300 or higher
15GB of Hard Drive Space (corrected)

So I was a bit shocked when I saw that 15GB of Hard Drive space, but I was really shocked at the fact that my 7800GT is equaled to an ATI x1300 card. Now when I played this game on the PC at E3, it was running silky smooth, which makes me wonder what machines they were using in comparison to these specs.

While this is just from a moderator and not from a developer, it is interesting to note how steep the requirements are in comparison to the game Bioshock. Why the comparison? Because the PC version of Bioshock was developed from the ground up, while Stranglehold was more of a port from the 360 version. Would a separate development team at Midway working on this game from the ground up have made a difference. I will be getting the game on the PC the day it comes out, so I will post back with my thoughts on how it runs.

Thanks to Xeres606 for pointing out this thread at Midway

That’s crazy and another reason why I gave up on updating my PC. You have a typo there at the end of the specs, should be hard drive space not RAM. :-)

    Shane,

I have to agree with you there, sure not everyone will want this game but if StarCraft II comes out with some insane PC specs you can bet there will be lots of people out there upgrading their systems just for that one game.

I’ve heard Shane’s statement all too many times lately. After seeing my brother drop $3000 on a game machine, I myself have ditched the endless PC upgrade path and got a 360 elite for the same price of a good video card. ($550 CAD)

Good riddance. now if only I could get my mouse working on the xbox.
