In addition to a new campaign that ties up the Dread Lords saga, Twilight of the Arnor adds civilization-specific technology trees and planetary improvements that add even more flavor to each alien race, while greatly expanding the strategic depth of the game. A vast array of new ships, weapons, starbases and ship components will be available to players, including the devastating Terror Star, which can annihilate entire star systems. Galactic Civilizations II: Twilight of the Arnor requires GC2: Gold Edition or GC2: Dark Avatar. And the big deal about GalCiv II? They sell it without copy protection so their fans can actually play it without annoying CD checks. Sales must really be great to have a second expansion for the game, so I think this shows that if your audience is loyal, dedicated and mature, they won’t be absolute jerks about it and shaft you by distributing your game for free on file sharing networks.

Either that or the thing is so massively complicated that you really need the physical manual to understand how to play. :-)
