PS3 “built like a tank”
While the owners of Xbox 360s fear a console death at any moment, PS3 users take security in knowing how hardy their console is. It seems that some Playstation fans decided to stress test their PS3s by running them for 108 hours straight in various environments, and by heating it to 120 degrees Fahrenheit, then cooling it to 0. The PS3 survived all the tests and still ran “fine.”

This was really poorly documented. I can say my PS3 has stood up to hours and hours of use without a hiccup, but 108 hours in a sauna? That’s hard to swallow. True or bunk, I don’t recall any articles online about PS3 hardware failures and I’ve had no hardware problems myself so my first-hand experience says the thing is built to last. Good thing too, with the hours I’m going to put in on Ratchet and Clank.
It’s true. The doggone thing is built like a tank. I’ve kicked mine, threw it off the roof of my mansion, tossed it in the tub still plugged in and even slapped a jar of cooking oil on it and hooked it up to a car battery.
all in all I’ve beaten the living hell out of the silly thing. I have yet to play a game on it but I find beating it to death much more satisfying.
haha yea ill remember if i ever play a ps3 in an oven lol stupid test whats the point lawll or if in the middle of winter i find a huge extension cord and just take my tv out side in freezing temps and play it in the snow loll
Sifer2400, the point is that a 360 will overheat and die at slightly over room temperature… or even AT room temperature. The PS3 is a much more reliable device. It had already proven to have a fantastically low failure rate; below 0.2%. They wanted to see just how much it could take. If they actually did everything they said, then it can take a hell of a lot.
