Ken Levine had a little chat with Joystiq, and touched on a few topics about Bioshock. First off, he was very blunt in saying there is no PS3 version of Bioshock. He mentioned that they have an exclusive agreement with Microsoft, and that would be the end of it. Ken also touched on the PC issues that players have been having, in regards to the widescreen issues and the copy protection software. Levine flat out admits that they dropped the ball on the PC launch and that patches are forthcoming for the FOV issue (widescreen cropping) and rasing the limit on the copy protection. He also says that the copy protection will be removed at some point when it is no longer necessary.

Why may you ask is Bio-Shock not coming to the PS3?

Because 2K likes to make money-not lose money!

    (that ones for you Mike!)

Actually, it has already been stated before (either here or elsewhere on the inter-web) that with the “next generation”, single console releases will be hard-pressed to get their ROI to cover the development costs. If 2k was to release the game solely on the PS3, then at at this point in time they would not see the sales that they would like, but it may have helped to move more PS3′s off the shelves. If a game is a console exclusive, then the console owner must have dumped a HUGE sum of money into the developers lap to have them even think that its a good idea.

All I’d like to see is a port of the game to PS3. The biggest problem with the exclusives is it makes it more expensive for the gamer to afford everything they’d like to play. Personally, there are games on both the PS3 and Xbox360 that I’d like to play. But for features and functionality, the PS3 adds more value in that area with its out-of-box experience than the Xbox360 does, IMHO. Plus it can replace my PS2 and help consolidate my entertainment center.

Exclusivity is a problem for the gamers?

How’s this. Buy a XBOX360 for $349 and Halo 3 & Bio Shock for $60 each. Throw in $50 for XBOXLive for 12 months.

    That’s $520.

Or for $499 get a PS3 and last years NBA EA game out of the bargain bin for the same price and have a fun time.
