Irrational Responds to Lack of PC Demo

Submitted by on August 14, 2007 – 4:08 pm2 Comments

bioshocksplicer1.jpgSeems that a fair amount of PC gamers have made their point to Irrational about the lack of a PC demo for Bioshock when the demo dropped for the 360. Reps at Irrational have stated that they wanted the demo to be perfect and that it was taking a little longer than they thought, but they are striving to have a demo out before the August 21st launch date.

One thing that makes me question this though, is why they would have such a huge announcement on TV about the demo. It just seemed as if this was all planned to give the 360 the demo as an exclusive, but that could just be the conspiracist in me.

Probably because the PC is hard to develop for, and nobody is going to give them marketing help to sell it on the PC for free like they can get from Microsoft to sell it on the 360.

    Which would you finish first?

I think the irritation is that the game started off on the PC, and only later in development was it announced for the PC. And the fact that Irrational has always been known for supporting PC gamers by creating quality games for the PC.

As for the marketing arguement, that is not true, because it is a Games for Windows labeled game and gets all the perks of the Microsoft dollars behind that campaign.
