HDMI Port Coming to the Premium 360

360hdmi375_embed.jpgWith the official price cut coming yesterday, Microsoft let another surprise out of the bag by announcing that the Premium 360 would start shipping with an HDMI port onboard. This used to be a feature that was only available on the Elite version of the box. No announcement on when these boxes will be hitting the streets, but rumors are that they are already shipping as we write this.

Now this begs the question of why is a console getting more updates than some PCs do in this short a span. I thought a console was suppose to bring uniformity and consistant design, but now it seems like it is becoming more about getting more money from the customer than creating an easy to design base.

HDMI, DVI, S-Video, VGA, Component, Composite.

All are pretty irrelevant to the overall hardware design. Especially when HDMI is just DVI-D rearranged w/audio.

the difference in optical drives is probably a much bigger worry in regards hardware uniformity.
