Haze was announced several months ago as a FPS shooter that would come to the 360, PC and the PS3. Not much news has been released beyond that, but today came word that the PC and 360 versions may not see the light of day. In a statement found on Gamespot, Ubisoft went on to say that the PS3 version is the only version currently in development.

Now the way that statement is written, it looks as if they are keeping all their options open, but this is a nice score for the PS3. The game looks good and barring people not pulling themselves away from Resistance, this game could become a big seller for the platform, although I would not classify it as a system seller.

Unreal Tournament 3 will probably be the best shooter this season, but Haze will have a chance of making a splash as a story-based shooter.

The twists in Haze’s combat centering around the Nectar use and abuse are interesting, but one preview I read basically saw a lot more potential in the theme for unique combat than the game was actually using. E.g. why can’t Nectar equipment be removed from the soldier, causing Nectar deprivation to negatively affect combat performance and abilities? That kind of thing.

Paul: perhaps you should go try bioshock then. It’s available now, and is fantastic.

For what it’s worth I told them to keep it. We really didn’t need that particular turd of a game on our system. Gotta throw an occasional bone to Sony to let them think they are still in it.

Well, Ubisoft has been making money on their PS3 content, so this makes sense.

I think the “PS3 exclusive” will make PS3 owners consider it but to be honest, I don’t have any interest in it. The drug premise isn’t something I can personally condone.
