Harvest Moon Boy & Girl Goes Back To Nature
An entirely unheralded release from Natsume called Harvest Moon: Boy & Girl will be slipping onto store shelves for the PSP. The big surprise is that despite there being two games on the UMD (Boy is one, Girl is the other) they are really ports of Back To Nature and Harvest Moon For Girls without attribution. PSPFanboy notes that the IGN review points out that nowhere in the manual does it say that these are ports or originally were called Back To Nature (or For Girls) but they’re just direct ports. I don’t think this by itself is a terrible thing, since they seem to have come across intact.
From what I recall Back To Nature was one of the best PSOne versions of the franchise, and it features all of the farming Harvest Moon fans like along with the relationship building that reviewers noted was omitted from Harvest Moon: Innocent Life, the first full-fledged PSP title in the series. I also remember there being something of an adventuring element, going into caves and exploring and farming in them too. The Wikipedia can refresh your memory on what Back To Nature had to offer.
IGN gives the PSP ports a 7.1, and frankly if it’s as quirky and fun as I remember the original one being, I’ll give it a try. After I try out Innocent Life, a true PSP title instead of a port, first. I’m not thrilled with the non-bargain $30 price point, but we’ll see what happens after a little while at retail.
