Halo 3 Hits One Million Pre-Order Sales in North America
Official Halo 3 pre-order numbers have finally been released by Microsoft and they confirm that the game is the fastest pre-order sales item in North America ever. The one million sales number is smaller that the rumored four million Gamestop pre-order number that we had heard a few months ago, but it is still an impressive number.
Also, it looks as if Master Chief is getting the VIP treatment from several outside properties that have made co-branding deals with Microsoft. PepsiCo will launch a Master Chief limited edition can of the Mountain Dew GamingFuel drink. We also know that Doritos will have Halo 3 characters on the front of their bags, and 7-11 will have Halo 3 themed items in their store with a contest giveaway. Burger King, which has been close to the gaming market for the last year and a half will have specially themed wrappers for their food items that will give the user access to exclusive online Halo 3 related content.
But the strangest marketing deal had to be from Pontiac. Pontiac will be hosting several Gamer Garage events across North America which will allow players to compete for the grand prize, a Halo 3 themed Pontiac G6 GXP car. While this is all good, I am waiting for the cross marketing where we find out that Warthogs are made by Pontiac, along with Master Chief’s armor.
