airportsecurity.jpgTaking a flight and bringing along your 360, Wii, or PS3, or your older home console? If you’re not checking them, you’ll need to take them out of their cases or bags so they can be inspected. This new rule also includes portable DVD players. However, DSes, PSPs, iPods, cell phones, and other small electronics don’t need to be removed from their cases, this USA Today article says, although I do believe they sometimes ask you to turn on your cellphone.

I flew to MAnchester, UK in ’03 and had a PS2, camera, MP3 player, a GBA etc and had to turn on all of them. I had this stuff carry on (The PS2 was needed for business, so I couldn’t risk checking it) and they swabbed everything with a small cloth (presumably to check for explosive residue) so this has been a normal practice for a while now from what I’ve seen.
