Whether it’s a premonition of games to come or simply a fragment of gaming lost, the config.ini file in the recently released PC demo of Bioshock references the PS3. Sony fanboys are printing the article over at Playstation Universe onto the softest paper they can find and violating it as we speak. Their beloved PS3 might just get Bioshock after all!

Of course, in our podcast this week we were all very confident Bioshock would eventually land on Sony’s console. The question is, will anyone really care by then?

Of course PS3 gamers will care, which isn’t exactly the impact Bioshock has on non-360 owners today. I’d have to compare a Bioshock PS3 release to when Oblivion hit the PS3. It was a technically superior game overall and even sported more on-disc content than the original Xbox 360 release. The reviews for Oblivion on the PS3 were also stellar as well but in the end, it barely caused much of a ripple in the pool.

So yes, I suspect it might just hit the PS3 one day but by then, we’ll all be on to bigger and better things.

something you should be aware of, this is not a new thing. As far back as Unreal 2004 the engine itself contained configuration files for the xbox console even though that game was never ported to the xbox.

Unreal engine 3 is the same way. it contains those files for all consoles and the pc. So this doens’t mean anything.

Its a game, and apparently a good one. And if I get the option to play it on my console of choice, awesome. Making a splash is fine, but not having people clawing at the cold, unyielding glass of a Gamestop door in the wee hours of the morning isn’t going to detract from the game.

I’ve heard good things about it, so here’s hoping.

I didn’t refresh before I posted, so I didn’t see Dave’s comment. It does look like the line is just a comment and could just be in there by default from a template config file.

Definitely far from proof, but since it’s meaningless as far as running the game goes it could just as easily been changed to read only Xbox360. Not holding my breath for it, but it would still be cool.
