As most are aware, E for All was created after the format was changed for E3. The feeling was that the show creators felt that the public needed an event to see games that would be coming out in the next 6-12 months. While this sounds great at first, it doesn’t seem to be going over quite as well as the show organizers thought. While some names like EA, Konami, Nintendo, NVIDIA and several others have signed on to attend, Sony, Capcom, Midway, NCSoft and Sega are all skipping the event. Late word from GameIndustry lets us know that Microsoft will not be attending the event either.

I think that the game companies are looking at this convention as the reason why they wanted E3 changed. While the public buys games, it is the media that actually builds them up. I am sure the gaming public will hate me for saying it, and I will be attended to cover the event for Aeropause, but I have the feeling that it will be a bust, especially when the gaming press is having to wait an hour to get two minutes with a game.

“most will be people that are there looking for free swag.”

    Bingo.

Plus the logo sucks. How many more techie groups can recycle that damned “power button” icon as part of their logo before the world ends?

The president of GenCon said the gaming companies are going more towards already-established conventions, like the few that showed up at GenCon this year.
